What's Reportable in Alberta?
Alberta law requires employers to immediately report
all serious workplace accidents to Workplace Health & Safety
(WHS) by calling 1-866-415-8690.
Section 18(2) of the Alberta Occupational Health & Safety
Act, requires injuries and incidents to be reported if they:
- result in a death;
- cause a worker to be admitted to hospital for more than two
days;
- involve an unplanned or uncontrolled explosion, fire or flood
that
- causes or has the potential to cause a serious injury;
- involves the collapse or upset of a crane, derrick or
hoist; or
- involves the collapse or failure of any component of
a building or structure necessary for the structural integrity
of the building or structure.
You are also required to complete an accident investigation report
in a format outlined by WHS as shown in their bulletin. Alberta
